Love Varsity Mama offers grants for families to help children in grades K–12 participate in sports. We also provide grants for nonprofit organizations running community-based recreational sports programs for kids in underserved areas. Grants may be full or partial, depending on need and eligibility.

Who can apply for an individual grant?

Accepted Answer

Our grants focus on families nationwide who need financial support for youth sports. We use state median income guidelines from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a reference:
 • Full grant: Household income below 60% of your state’s estimated median income by household size.
 • Partial grant (50%): Household income below your state’s median income.

Who can apply for an organizational grant?

Organizational grants are for nonprofit sports programs or community-based recreation programs serving children in grades K–12 in low-income areas. Programs should focus on recreational-level sports, not elite competitive leagues. Proof of nonprofit status and program details are required. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

How often can a family apply?

• Families can typically apply up to two times per year per child for recreational sports.
 • For travel sports, applications are limited to once per year per child.
 • Usually, only one grant per child at a time is approved, but exceptions may be considered.
 • We may also set an annual limit per child to help more families.

What is the application process?

1. Submit your initial application with basic information.
2. If eligible, you’ll receive a full application requesting supporting documents (income verification, registration info, etc.).
3. Once reviewed, you’ll be notified of the grant decision.
Due to high demand, processing may take several weeks.

How does the grant get applied?

• Love Varsity Mama will pay registration fees and related costs directly to the sports organization.
 • Equipment or uniforms may be purchased and delivered directly to the family if included.
 • We may ask recipients or coaches to complete short feedback surveys to help us improve the program.

We recommend applying at least 30 days before your sport’s registration deadline to allow time for review and processing.
